Remedial Massage Castlemaine
What is Remedial Massage?
Remedial massage involves hands on manual therapy and includes sub types of massage, such as deep tissue, lymphatic drainage, pregnancy massage, acupressure and myofascial release. Remedial massage is not relaxation massage, although it can be relaxing. Certification requires at least a diploma and you must be registered with a regulatory body. Remedial massage is the only form of massage you can claim under private health insurance.
Remedial massage techniques may help to relieve tight and contracted muscles, improve joint and spine mobility and release myofascial restriction. Musculoskeletal pain can arise from muscle tissue, fascial tissue, bone, joints and nerves. With a thorough assessment, the source of the pain can be identified and then treated accordingly. Remedial massage alone can help to resolve musculoskeletal pain, or it can work to compliment other forms of manual therapy such as physiotherapy, osteopathy or chiropractic therapy. Often, I combine remedial massage and acupuncture in one treatment to achieve best results.
